While I've been away, I've developed some new tricks!
While I'm getting changed or getting a new nappy, I love to squirm even more now, turning around onto my tummy and turning to face the mirror. I also like to push myself closer towards the sink so that my head is actually in the basin!
I spit up much less now. In fact, I don't wear a bib much anymore except while I'm eating. My eating pattern has changed too. I eat more closer to breakfast, lunch, and dinner now.
I'm trying to sit up all by myself now. I still need help - someone to hold down my feet so I can do it. Otherwise I just end up lifting both my head and feet at the same time. I also turn onto my tummy and then back again quite easily and regularly. I've been known to use this rolling technique to get places too!
On my swing, I like to go fast! I'll lean into the swing so it will go faster than the mechanism. Lots of fun! I also will try to swing side to side on it, but that's not as successful since it doesn't go that way.
My sleep routine is different now. I don't nap as much anymore - if my staff try to put me down and I don't want to, I'll complain loudly and put my arms up in the air wanting to be picked up again. I have them wrapped around my little finger, mostly.
I'm good at holding things now. I like to wave them around too. And I stick everything I can in my mouth!

My staff are continuing to process the photos from my trip to England and Germany. You can see the photos that have already been uploaded.
Next week will be a big milestone: I'm starting at daycare on Wednesday! Should be fun I hope!

Last week, just after we came home, Mum & Dad went to Raleigh Little Theatre for their annual awards ceremony where they give out acting awards (Best Actor, etc) plus volunteer and youth awards. Guess what? My Dad won an award - the Distinguished Service Award for the stuff he does at the theatre. Pretty cool huh!
This weekend is the 4th of July long weekend. This afternoon, Paul & Heather with Kate and Rachel are coming over and we're going to the pool. That will be fun - haven't been in the pool for ages!

Today was a big day. I went to school at Bright Horizons for the first time. I am in the Infant 3 room with Miss Mary and Miss Eileen. Mummy and Daddy came to drop me off and they stayed for a little while so I could be introduced, then I told them to leave so I could concentrate on all the new toys. I stayed all day and it was so exciting that I only had one nap all day!! I can't wait for Friday when I get to go again. They have really cool toys and stairs and a fish and a bird and a big buggy for rides and climbing equipment and food. I even have my very own cot to have my naps but its way too exciting to waste time sleeping.

I'm going to school again today. Its my third day in daycare - I'm going Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays this month. I had a fun weekend. On Saturday night, we had dinner with Bob & Charlene at Sushi Thai, a local Thai & Sushi restaurant (not surprising giving the name). And I had Sushi for the first time. Mummy ordered me one with some cooked Salmon--she doesn't want me to have the raw stuff yet--and I liked it too. Mummy also had Sushi and Dad had some Thai. All very yummy so I'm told.
Yesterday, we went over to Cate Foltin's apartment complex for a pool party. She invited lots of people from Raleigh Little Theatre (Cate is the Managing Director). That was lots of fun too. I received attention from everyone and got to try some different foods, then I got to play in Cate's pool with Roger, Kathleen, Nancy, plus Mum & Dad. I got a little bit of colour on my nose too from the Sun - oops.
We've also being making field trips these past few days, up to the Kouri residence to water Gerrie plants (the ones in pots). They have a really nice house (I've visited before) so we're making sure the flowers stay nice too, especially in the 35°C heat we've been having all week.
Oh and good news from Alan & Jo. They are expecting a baby in December. Congrats! Hope its a girl like me!

Last night I didn't go to bed until quite late - after 9:30pm. We went grocery shopping when Dad got home, and I didn't have a bath and bottle until after that. Then I didn't want to go down - cried a lot and was generally not sleepy. Strange.
I've also been crying out once or twice some nights these past few weeks since we came home from Germany. I don't usually wake up - Mum or Dad just straighten me up and put my pacifier (der schnuller or "schnulli" in German) in my mouth. Hopefully that will not continue long!
I went to school again today, so that was good. This time, Dad dropped me off and picked me up again in the afternoon. That was good. Mary, my teacher fills out a form each day I'm there, explaining when I eat and stuff. She also writes a short note about my day. Here's today's entry:
Zoe had a pretty good day. Like at home last night, she was a little fussy. She needed a bit more TLC today. So we did a lot of cuddling. Today, we read "I love my family". We talked about how important our family is. Zoe also enjoyed playing the xylophone and standing at the mirror (with my help). Have a good night! Mary T.
Here's the entry from last Friday:
Zoe had another good day; rolling all over the room. She had two short naps and really enjoyed a muffin at snack time.
You'll also notice from the photos that I'm now standing up by myself. I can't stand without holding onto something or someone, but I'm getting better at it. I don't crawl yet, but I'm starting to bring my knees up while I'm lying on my tummy. Wonder if I'll walk or crawl first?

Last night was fun. Carmen and Mum & Dad hosted a surprise going-away party for Chris & Jess, good friends from Raleigh Little Theatre. We had about 40 people over. I really enjoyed all the attention (as well as the chocolate-covered strawberries that Mummy made!)
Chris & Jess currently work at the theatre as the Outreach Program teachers. The go to schools around the local area and teach theatre stuff. Been very successful. They're moving to California because Chris has been accepted to the year-long Dell'Arte physical theatre program (Carmen went there for a shorter program last year). I hope Jess is also going to continue her music while they're in California.

Introducing the new category on my Web site, My artwork, where I'll be featuring my work. I created my first piece, titled Paintbrush Fun at daycare on Monday.

My first haircut!
Today was a big day. First of all, I had my very first haircut. I went to Tanas where my stylist, Lewie, works. (Mum & Dad also use Lewie - he's good). My hair was starting to be annoying and get in my eyes, and since Dad was getting a haircut, I thought I would too.
It was pretty good. I sat on Mummy's lap the whole time while Lewie cut my hair. I got to wear a cool blue cape to keep me clean. First he wet my hair, then cut off the long straggly bits (hair I had since I was born!) and trimmed my fringe ("bangs" here in the US) so the hair stays out of my eyes. Then at the end, he put a little bit of gel in my hair, just like a big girl. Check out the photos and movie of the event.
While Dad was getting his haircut done with Lewie, Mummy & I went to the supermarket to buy groceries. Then after lunch, the three of us went to see The Phantom Tollbooth at Raleigh Little Theatre. It was a fun show and I watched all of it! And I was good too - no shouting out, no singing alone and no napping.
It was a big day. On the way home, I fell asleep in the car. Dad carried me upstairs to my bed where I had a really good nap.

This week, I'm now full-time at my school since Mummy's gone back to work. I enjoy myself. Here's what Miss Mary wrote about me yesterday on her daily sheet:
Zoe had a fantastic day! This morning she enjoyed dumping and filling baskets. Zoe really likes the rattles that look like cars. Today we read "What's On My Head?". We talked about different kinds of hats. We also read "Puppy". Zoe felt different types of textures.
As you can see, we do lots and I have lots of fun.
Over the weekend, I received two huge packages from Australia. They were presents for me from Grandma and Grandad Watts: a huge Tambo Teddy and a rocking horse. Totally excellent - I am very lucky. I love playing with them, especially riding on the horsie (with Mummy or Daddy's help).

I'm sick!
It's official. I'm sick. It all started yesterday early afternoon. I was at daycare and started to not feel well. Miss Mary took my temperature and I was 100.6°F (38.1°C). So she called Mummy & Daddy to come pick me up and take care of me. Two of the other babies in my group were already out sick. By the time Mummy picked me up, I was feeling better again. Mummy gave me some baby Tylenol and that made me feel better too.
We had plans to go out that night for Carmen's birthday, and I said it was OK since I was feeling better. It was good fun at dinner (we went to Moonlight Pizza) and I met lots of new fans too. I stayed up until we got home about 9:30pm.
In the morning though, I didn't feel too well again. And I started getting diarrhea too - not nice at all. Mummy took me to the doctor as soon as we could get an appointment - 9:15am. I was pronounced officially sick. I have Hand, Foot & Mouth just like the other two babies. Mummy thought I might need to be shot like sheep are, but it turns out it's a different virus that's quite common and not too serious.
So I spent the day at home today, and so did Mummy. I've been keeping my fluids up with my bottles but haven't had much of an appetite for food. I had a nice long nap in the middle of the day and that was good.

I'm feeling a little better today, although my insides are still sick - lots of nappies (you don't want to know the details). Mummy stayed home to look after me so that was nice. I hope I'm better soon - I want to go back to school so I can play with Miss Mary and all the other kids.
Did you know I'll be 9 months old tomorrow? Wow! I got a new toy today since I can stand up. Its a Fisher Price "Photo Fun Learning Smart Screen Intelli-Table". It's very cool and has some great lights and sounds.
I can say new things now, including "Ma Ma". Mummy is most pleased! I also like playing the "ta" game. It goes like this: I have a toy or something in my hand, and I give it to Mummy. She then says "ta" to say thanks. Then she hands it to Daddy and he says "ta" too. See? He then gives it back to me (he says "ta" for me, but sometimes I say it too). It's a fun game.
