This is going to be a fun weekend: Gerrie and Amanda are coming over and I'm minding them for two nights while Mum & Dad are up in the North Carolina mountains at the wedding of our friends and neighbours Mark & Brooklyn. I think we're going to do all sorts of stuff!
I've now grown out of my infant car seat, so we've purchased a new larger one that stays in the car all the time. It still faces to the rear of the car (when I'm older my staff will turn it around). So I've sold the infant car seat to Helen from across the road. I'm sorry to see it go, but I'm a big girl now!
As well as looking forward to this weekend, I'm also looking forward to Mummy and I going to England and Germany next week! Yep, we're away for 3 weeks - Dad will have to fend for himself as I won't be there to look after him. We're flying into London where we're staying at Uncle Paul and Aunty Karin's place. We're also meeting Grandma Rakkar who's also flying in from Melbourne. We'll spend some time with Grandad Rakkar who's in Rochester (he's CEO of Telspec now). Then we're off to Germany to visit my Great Grandmother (Mummy calls her Omi). Look out for the photos!

Weekend with Amanda & Gerrie
Mark & Brooklyn got married!
 |
Well I had a really fun weekend! Mum & Dad went up to the mountains for a wedding and I got to look after the Kouri family - Amanda, Gerrie & Dick. It was Mark & Brook's wedding (they live next door) and it was held in West Jefferson which is about 3 hours drive from Raleigh.
Mum & Dad left Friday afternoon, and Gerrie & I went to pick up Amanda. We had a fun afternoon and evening. The best part, however, was Saturday, when we all went shopping at the Triangle Town Center Mall. I'd never been there before. I was spoilt! Gerrie bought me lots of lovely designer outfits that Amanda picked out. She has very good taste. Thanks! Back at home, Dick came over too and helped Amanda give me a bath. Then on Sunday, we went to Bruegger's Bagels for lunch. Mum & Dad came back home and met us there. A lovely weekend! I was exhausted. On Monday I was so tired that I fell asleep in the middle of eating lunch!

Today I'm flying out to London with Mummy. We're going to see Grandma & Grandad Rakkar as well as Uncle Paul & Aunty Karin while we're there. Then Mummy, Grandma and I are all going to Freiberg to visit my Great Grandmother and my other German relatives. We're going to be away for 3 weeks. Its going to be fun.
Before I go, let me give you an update on me:
- I'm more that 7 months old
- I can roll over onto my back and most times roll back all by myself
- I can't crawl yet, but I'm starting to figure out the knee action required
- I don't raspberry much anymore (not even when I'm eating)
- I still say what sounds like "da da", but Dad doesn't think its directed at him
- I like to sit up and in fact, Dad's had me standing while propped against a wall (but only for a few seconds)
I won't have access to the computer to do my blog updates, so I'll be faxing or phoning them through to my Web publisher and he'll do the updates on my behalf.
Grandad Watts had his hernia operation yesterday (Wednesday in Australia), and he'll be coming home today. Grandma's going to pick him up. Everything went well by all accounts. That's good.

Dad here. Zoe and Kiron are in England now so I'm keeping Zoe's diary up to date from wire reports and the like. The flight was easy--Zoe slept most of the time--and arrived safely. The Gatwick people wouldn't give back Zoe's pram until baggage claim, so Kiron had to hold Zoe for an hour while they queued up for customs. Joy for both of them especially considering that the airconditionig wasn't working well. They're with Zoe's grandparents Gabriele and Shiv in Leeds Village in Kent (not the Leeds in Yorkshire) so that's good. When I caught up with them yesterday, they were grocery shopping - Zoe was helping.

In London
Dad here. Got a good update from Zoe and Kiron just now. They're in London at Paul & Karin's house with Shiv & Gabriele. Zoe is over her jetlag now and back to her usual fun self. She's also sleeping normally 7pm-5am so that's good.
On Friday, Zoe & Kiron & Gabriele drove to Rochester and toured Rochester Cathedral and Rochester Castle as well as wandering down the high street doing a bit of shopping. On Saturday, Zoe took Kiron to the station and she went into London. Zoe and her grandparents looked at apartments and houses in and around Leeds Village in Kent. Zoe also watch a bit of football (soccer) on TV. Zoe stayed overnight with her Grandparents while Kiron stayed overnight with Paul & Karin. Today, Sunday, when they phoned, they were at Paul & Karin's house, sitting on the deck. They were about to go out to visit Great Aunt Gurmeet who also lives in London. Katie Bowra is also in London at the moment so hopefully they can meet up - Katie phoned this morning.
Tomorrow, they plan to go to a petting zoo so Zoe can see some animals. On Tuesday, Zoe, Kiron & Gabriele are off to Germany.
While they're away, I've got plenty to do - have a long list! I was house managing at Raleigh Little Theatre on Thursday and Friday nights for their outdoor production of Smokey Joe's Café (unfortunately, both shows were rained out). Saturday night it didn't rain (I think) so that's good. I believe one of the local reviewers was there.

In Germany
Dad here. Spoke to Kiron this afternoon. Zoe, Kiron and Gabriele in Freiburg now (March actually) at Dagmar and Hanspeter's house. Omi (Zoe's great grandmother) is also there. Kiron was quite tired as Zoe was a bit ratty last night waking up several times during the night. They have plenty of photos so look for a burst of new piccies when they return home on the 30th.

Dad here. Zoe and Kiron are still enjoying themselves in Freiburg. Kiron is very tired because Zoe's been very active and not sleeping through the night at the moment. She wakes and cries several times a night. Zoe is in the same room as Kiron so its normally a quick "turnaround".
Zoe's having lots of fun. She's gone to the markets at the Munsterplatz in the city with Suzi and Martin, seeing the sights and having some ice cream. Zoe's also been for walks with Kiron and Gabriele around the village of March, where she saw various animals: horses, cows, chickens, dogs, cats, and other sundry animals.
She's been eating all sort of food. She's had Bratkartoffeln (fried pieces of potato with bacon or ham), some pieces of chicken, some Zuckerkirschtorte (sweet cherry pie) that Dagmar made, not to mention cherries and strawberries from Dagmar's garden. She also likes sparkling mineral water - the bubbles are fun. No teeth yet, but tries to eat everything she can get her hands on.
Zoe laughs and laughs at Dagmar - all the funny faces and noises that Dagmar make are a real hit. Dagmar calls her Spitzmauf - "little mouse". She has also played on the computer with Martin. Today she was watching Teletubbies in German - she quite likes that. Gabriele bought her a Lala doll to play with too.
They plan to drive to Munich on Tuesday - Kiron, Zoe, Gabriele and Omi (Zoe's great grandmother). There's they'll stay with Monika and Winfred. Winfred is Gabriele's brother.

London tomorrow
Dad here. Today is Zoe, Kiron and Gabriele's last day in Germany. Monday they fly back to London and spend two nights with Shiv before flying back home. Hooray! I've missed them and am glad they're coming home. By all reports, they've had a great time in Germany. Everybody loves playing with Zoe. Dagmar says she's going to keep her!
Earlier this week, from Sunday, they were in Munich, visiting Monika & Winfred as well as Bodo and Jurgen (I think both the boys were there). While they were they, they went into the city so that Zoe could see Marienplatz and the Glockenspiel. They were in Munich until Wednesday.
Back in Frieburg, Zoe was definitely the centre of attention. Apparently if someone holds here up, she can take a few steps! So her legs are getting stronger. I wonder if she'll walk before she crawls? Her eating pattern is changing too. She's now eating closer to three meals a day - breakfast, lunch & dinner instead of eating every three hours during the day that she's been doing.
I received some photos from Martin (Kiron's cousin), so I'll hopefully put some of those up here. Kiron & Zoe are back in Raleigh on Wednesday - hooray!
