Birthday week

Well I had a really fun birthday week. Of course Tuesday was my actual birthday. I came downstairs to Mummy & Daddy's bed first thing (as I've been doing these past few days), and got to open some presents, from my two lots of Grandparents, first of all. I also got to talk to Grandma Dorothy and Grandad Keith on the telephone, and that was good. I also opened the presents from Uncle Paul and Aunty Karin - a huge Dora kitchen, and a fold up Thomas the Tank Engine tent, plus some Thomas DVDs - thanks!

We were a bit late going to school and work, but people didn't seem to mind. Mummy took me to school (did I tell you I'm in preschool now?) and made arrangements for the afternoon. She had arranged cupcakes for everyone in my class and came back just after naptime. That was really lots of fun.

Tuesday night was also Halloweeen (did I tell you my birthday is on Halloween?) so Daddy came home early too and we got ourselves ready for trick-or-treat. I was dressed as Cinderealla this year (of course) and I had matching accessories as well as a pretty dress. Daddy had to go to the theatre for rehearsals, but he and I went next door to Mark & Brooklyn's house to do trick-or-treat there. Keever was also dressed up, as an octopus. He's getting big!

Meanwhile, Mummy stayed home and handed out candy to the trick-or-treaters coming to our door. I decided I didn't want to go to Helen & Joe's or Larry & Roxanne's just yet, so Daddy and I went back home and rang our own door bell. Mummy had some good candy! Unfortunately, Daddy had to go to the theatre, but about 20 minutes later, Katie arrived and she took me out again. Mummy couldn't come too as she had to stay for the other kids coming to the door (that was a shame). Kate came over too, a little while later. They got me my own kid's digital camera for my birthday - it's a real camera with a viewfinder and a little LCD display at the back and a port to connect to the computer to upload the photos. It's really fun, and it makes great sounds. I stayed up till almost 10, there was so much going on!

Friday, I came home early because I had lots of yellow goop coming out of my eyes so Mummy took me to the doctor for some new eye drops. Furtunately, it didn't stop me from going to the theatre Friday night for the opening of Daddy's production at RLT, Petite Rouge, A Cajun Red Riding Hood. He is the stage manager for the show and I like to watch it, even though it has a scary aligator in it (actually it's J. Michael and he's not scary so much any more). After the show we all went to the Draft House for drinkies, but they were too busy to have us so in the end we decided to get drinks and pizza and go back to the theatre and have it there in the lobby. I had a lot of fun and stayed up till after 11!! I was quite tired on the way home but I still wasn't overly keen to go to bed.

Saturday morning was my birthday party. I invited a lot of my friends from school plus other friends such as Ellie from next door. I had my party at Gymboree, a place not far from my school that has lots of fun play equipment and activities. Mummy had arranged cupcakes for everyone plus drinks (chocolate and juice for us kids and water and Starbucks coffee drinks for the grownups). My party went from 10-11:30 and we played hard the entire time. We were all pretty tired at the end. Daddy went to the theatre after my party for the 1pm performance and Mummy and I came to the theatre for the 5pm show. After the show, Gerrie gave me a birthady present - a fabulous little pram for me to put my baby doll in and push her around. I love it!

Sunday, Daddy's going back to the theatre for more shows (1pm and 5pm) and Mummy and I will be joining him again. I do like coming to the theatre!

Happy Birthday Mummy

It was Mummy's birthday on Saturday. Daddy and I got here some roses and a Macy's gift card so she can buy something nice. Daddy had to go to the theatre for more performances of Petite Rouge but we came to see the 5pm one. In fact, I also had some of my friends with me, Rae and Zack plus their parents, and Mummy invited Bob and Charlene too. We also invited a colleague of Daddy's too, Randall Davis.

After the show, Bob, Charlene, Randall and us three went to The Red Room for a nice dinner. Unfortunately, Charlene wasn't feeling well, so they had to leave early. Afterwards, Randall and the three of us went to Starbucks for coffee. I had my pink drink, of course.

On Sunday, I went to see the show again, but this time it was with my friend Manav and his parents. He really enjoyed it too. I think I've seen the show six or eight times now. I really like it. My favourite character is Petite - she's a duck. I like the others too.

Happy Thanksgiving

Last Thursday was Thanksgiving Day, so I'm having a 4-day long weekend - nice! Let's see.

On Thursday I got to lie in Mummy's bed and watch some TV. Then we all went upstairs and we watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on TV (it is live from New York City each year). I got to see a giant Dora balloon plus many more balloons and floats. At the end of the parade was Santa Claus. During the parade, we had some yummy cinnamon rolls for breakfast, plus milk (for me) and coffee (for the parental units). I had a bath just before lunch which I agreed to without too much complaining.

In the afternoon, I had a belated nap, and then we all got dressed up and went to the Kouri's for Thanksgiving Day dinner. Bob and Charlene were originally planning to come but Charlene's not feeling very well currently so they elected to have a quiet day at home. It was great fun visiting them and I got to spend lots of fun time with Amanda. Everyone had champagne but I didn't drink mine as I was too busy. We had some yummy Hors D'oeuvres to start with while Dick and Gerrie finished preparing dinner.

Dick cooked the turkey this time, but Amanda turned it! It turned out that the rotisserie unit on Dick's grill broke so Amanda offered to turn it for 4 hours by hand (for a modest fee). Both Mummy and Gerrie made some delicious sides to go with it: mashed potato, sweet potato, green been casserole, cranberry stuffing, macaroni and cheese, and turkey gravy. It was really yummy so I was told, but I ate so much of the pre-dinner nibblies that I didn't want any dinner. So I just played games on Gerrie's computer in the kitchen. Mummy & Daddy weren't overly impressed by this but figured that I could do it since it was a holiday and I wasn't screaming my head off. Afterwards some of us had some pecan pie (Mummy made both a regular one plus a chocolate one) and all those that did regretted it later (way too much to eat!).

It was a really great evening!

On Friday, Mummy and Daddy decided they would buy me a new big bed. You see, the past few weeks, I've been either sneaking out my bed and sleeping in the guest bed in the front room (the "quickie bed" or the "cricket bed" as I've been known to call it), or just convincing Mummy and Daddy to put me to bed there directly. (I've also been getting out of bed at varing times of the morning and coming downstairs to sleep with them, but that's another story).

So they decided that I've grown out of my big girl toddler bed and it was time to buy something bigger. In the end they decided to buy a "full-size" (or double) bed for me and since all the sales were happening on Friday, they figured it would be a good time to get one. I had lots of fun trying out all the different beds in the shop but we eventually decided on getting a Sealy Posturepedic one. It is due to arrive today, Saturday. Mummy and Daddy are hoping that I will now sleep in my own big bed.

We also went to Target and braved all the crowds (it wasn't too bad as it turned out) and did lots of shopping there including buying me two sheet/doona sets for my new bed - a Disney Princess one and a Hello Kitty one. Both pink of course. We got a call from Katie and arranged for her to come over that night and we'd do dinner somewhere. That was really good too, and a second late night for me!

Today we're relaxing, not doing much. Tomorrow is Ellie's birthday party, so that should be lots of fun. It's good having a long weekend! Oh and happy birthday to Grandad Keith for next Friday too.
